Bollywood actor and Screen writter Shiv Kumar Subramaniam dies;Film industry mourns the loss
Bollywood actor and award-winning screenwriter Shiv Subrahmanyam passed away on the last Sunday night .The cause of the death is still not known.
He was a part of several Hindi films and web series, including ‘Meenakshi Sundareshwar’, ‘Nail Polish’, ‘2 States’, ‘Hichki, ‘Rocky Handsome’, ‘Stanley Ka Dabba’ and more.
The actor, who began his career as a writer with Parinda in 1989, went on to appear in a number of films and television shows. Parinda starred Jackie Shroff, Anil Kapoor, Madhuri Dixit, Nana Patekar, and Anupam Kher, among others, and was directed by Vidhu Vinod Chopra.
This news comes two months after his 16-year-old son succumbed to brain tumor. He is survived by wife-actor Divya Jagdale and they starred together in Amol Gupte's Stanley Ka Dabba. The funeral will take place on Monday morning.
Bollywood Filmmaker Ashoke Pandit took to Twitter to mourn the loss. He tweeted, “Extremely shocked and pained to know about the tragic demise of our dear friend, a great actor and a brilliant human being Shiv Subramaniam. My heartfelt condolences to his wife Divya. May God give you enough energy to face this tragedy."
Another Bollywood Filmmaker Hansal Mehta wrote, "With profound and heartfelt grief, we wish to inform you of the passing of one of the most dignified and noble souls to inhabit human form - our dearest Shiv Subrahmanyam. Incredibly talented, he was much loved and revered personally as well as professionally."
We extend our heartfelt condolences to his wife Diyya, her mum, dad, Rohan, Rinki, and family; Bhanu chitti and all of Shiv's family; and his huge legion of friends and fans,” he added.
According to sources the funeral will leave from Shishira, Yarnuna Nagar, Lokhandwala Back road, Andheri West at 10 am, 11.04.2022. The cremation will be at 11 am at Mokshdham Hindu Shamshanbhoomi, Ceasar Rd, Amboli, Andheri West, Mumbai, Maharashtra 400058.
Shiv had also played lead in Colors TV's serial Mukti Bandhan, where he was seen as businessman IM Virani. Meenakshi Sundareshwar and Nail Polish were two of his more recent roles.
Subramaniam was honoured with the Filmfare Awards for his work as a writer for films like Parinda and Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi. He had also achieved popularity for roles in TV shows like Kismat and Mukti Bandhan.
